Instructor Profile
Rich McLaughlin has been at the forefront of innovation and employee engagement for over two decades. With more than 13,000 hours spent designing and facilitating leadership and interpersonal skills workshops, Rich has a deep-rooted expertise in driving change and fostering innovation within teams. He specializes in blending external market developments with robust internal engagement strategies, helping teams ranging from as few as eight members to departments of up to 100 employees to initiate and capitalize on innovative opportunities.
Rich’s approach is highly experiential, focusing on enhancing leaders’ people skills over technical skills and fostering a productive and engaging work environment. His clients value his dynamic facilitation style, whether he is leading a leadership workshop, collaborating with specific teams, or encouraging employees to take greater accountability.
His academic and professional journey includes studying instructional design and change management at Accenture, developing and implementing Total Quality Management (TQM) programs at Square D Company, and crafting the leadership curriculum and internal consulting practices at Baxter Healthcare. Over the past eight years, Rich has dedicated his practice to exploring the convergence of Innovation and Design Thinking.
Rich holds an M.A. in Training and Development for Business from Ohio State University and has been a consulting faculty member at the University of Notre Dame’s College of Business since 2000. He is the author of “Rules of Engagement: A Story About How Leaders Can More Effectively Engage Employees” and co-author of “Tapping Team Intelligence: Exercises that Connect Team Members, Engage Their Creativity, and Foster Collaboration
